About OED

Utah's Energy Initiative encourages adequate, reliable, affordable, sustainable, and clean energy resources, including both nonrenewable and renewable resources, and energy conservation, energy efficiency, and environmental quality.

Energy development is economic development. It provides jobs and produces the energy we need to sustain economic development. Bringing clean and renewable resources to market benefits our economy and our quality of life. Finding clean, affordable, and sustainable solutions for utilizing fossil fuels and renewable energy sources, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the quality of our air, land and water, are critical for Utah and our Nation. Developing a diverse set of clean and renewable energy resources and technologies is placing Utah at the center of the West's energy future.

Energy efficiency begins by switching out light bulbs and switching off unnecessary power. It also means building more efficient homes and businesses, and buying more efficient products and appliances, ones that save energy and money throughout a lifetime. At home and at work and on the road, in business and leisure time, every individual can make a difference by saving energy.

Energy programs are integrated in a number of different agencies and operations, through the work of many individuals at the local, state, and federal levels of government. This website is designed to help you find the information and resources you need for energy efficiency, energy development, energy technology, and energy savings. We hope it works for you.
